Whoo hoo!!!
It feels like a huge burden off my back to finally have a working website up!
After about 20 different designs and ideas I finally settled with this current one. I like it black because most business websites are white. I don't want to be stuffy or want stuffy clients so I decided to take a more unorthodox approach.
I think it's great for now. Products and other things are in the works but for now it is what it is!

Your Thoughts Rule You
Picture in your mind a thought-factory. This factory is capable of manufacturing endless thoughts. There are 2 foremen in this factory. One is Mr. Negative and the other Mr. Positive. They just sit there in their chairs ready to go. You are the one who feeds them the raw material and you are the one who determines which foreman will produce which thoughts.
When you recognize a negative thought and accept it -then Mr. Negative gets up and starts rushing to produce a plethora of negative thoughts. When you recognize a positive thought and accept that one -Mr. Positive gets up and starts to produce a plethora of positive thoughts.
Whichever foreman you work more and harder that is the kind of person you will be.
I love this idea. It is from Dr. David Schwartz's book "Think Big."

Expand Yourself
Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage.-Anais Nin
My 6 year old daughter walked up to the high-dive platform at the local swimming pool. She stood there on the edge -about 8 feet from the roof of the huge indoor building. She looked down and waved at me. I swallowed hard.
Everybody in the place (actually about 80%) was looking at her gasping. She was so small. Like a little baby.
She jumps feet-first, hits the water, then swims to the surface. When she gets there she screams "I did it!!!"
To my daughter -the whole world is an opportunity. She doesn't see any down-side. She took a risk. Yes maybe she was naïve but she could still see how far it was down there!
I learned about taking risks from her. She has courage and uses it to expand her world. Her world is pretty big.
Do you feel like your world is shrinking? Do you feel like your opportunities are small?
Then take a risk! Go for it!

Dual Focus Doesn't Work
I'm moving right now and am in the midst of having two homes to travel between.
This means extra work for the yard work and cleaning etc.
As I was contemplating it all I realized the stress that is caused by having a dual focus in business.
Focus on only ONE THING and you will do a great job! You will also have less stress and less work -and your work will be amazing!

Breaks Increase Productivity
Sleep deprivation costs companies over $18 billion per year.
By napping, companies can increase not only employee productivity but also the QUALITY of their work says a recent study.
Businesses are always looking for ways to increase their productivity and bottom line and what seems counter-intuitive may really make a difference for workers and employers.
I followed this model back in 1992 when I was managing a retail graphic design firm with 6 employees. We scheduled a break every 45 mins. Workers took an average of 7 breaks throughout the day. Six -15 minute breaks plus an hour for lunch. Before we did this initiative we measured how many actual jobs the workers were doing in an average day. We measured this for 4 weeks.
Once we implemented our break schedule the amount of jobs increased 48%. I'm not kidding! AND the quality of their work was at least twice as good.
It was enough proof for me that breaks work!

Do The Opposite
Whatever your competition is doing -do the opposite!
That is a great way to start to innovate. Consider the idea that whatever everyone else is doing in the market is your cue for inventing a way to do it the opposite.
If you begin FROM a position that you can do the opposite then you will have a better chance at creating something that will work for you!
Sam Walton of Walmart used to use this principle so I think it has some merit! He used to say that when you do this you will get to hear all the nay-sayers telling you how you can't.
I remember hearing about my colleague and friend Sam Beckford tell a story of how a land owner once wouldn't sell him a building because he learnt that Sam owned a dance and music school. He told Sam that that kind of business can't make money. A few years later Sam purchased the bigger building across the street and made sure this land owner knew it. Oh and by the way he made a few million last year from his dance and music school!
True entrepreneurs LOVE to be challenged and take risks. It motivates and challenges them!
Doing the opposite won't always work but you'll never know until you take the risk!
