How to eliminate worry and stress...

Our only car got possessed and stopped working last night. My wife was driving and called me and let me know. I said to just leave the car there and I'll handle it in the morning then had her brother come pick her up and drive her home.

I slept like a baby. Even though I didn't really have money allocated to deal with a major vehicle breakdown and had a full day of appointments the next day. How did I do this?

It's because after years of training and developing myself to be in the moment it is finally paying off. There was really nothing I could do in the moment so I left it in the hands of God! :-)

100% of our worries are either from the future or the past. What I mean is that it is our THOUGHTS ABOUT the future or the past that produce worries. Right now, in this moment there really are no worries at all. When you are in the moment it is more fun, exciting, and freeing.

So how do you live in the moment? Practice. Practicing is not about doing something correct -it is about doing something over and over and over and over. That's it!

How I started practicing being in the moment is to stop and focus on my breathing. This works because breathing is something we do automatically and without thought. When you focus on your breathing you take it out of the automatic realm and into the purposeful realm. This makes you more keenly aware of all of the things in your life that you have learned to put on automatic.

We put things on automatic because that is how we're trained from birth! Unfortunately though, some things do not work very well on automatic. For example, your relationships, your innovation conversations, your conversations with your clients, these things put on automatic will cause great stress for you.

Focus on your breathing for about 2-5mins and do this about 3-4 times a day. You will immediately feel yourself pulling out of a stressful, automatic state and into a present state.

Through the years I've added the inquiry "What action do I need to take RIGHT NOW?"

I woke up and I had to get myself motivated. I then was present to walking to the bathroom, then shaving, then showering, then walking to the kitchen, then deciding what I want to eat for breakfast, then choosing that, then creating that, then eating it and really enjoying it. Then I was present to my schedule for the day. Etc etc.

There is no reason to worry, be in fear, or stress about anything when you live your life this way.

Go ahead -practice being PRESENT!
