Business is just a game. Like Monopoly, Chess, Trivial Pursuit, Sudoku, Snakes & Ladders etc. It's exactly the same and the sooner you realize that the better you will play the game!
What doesn't work is when you are playing a game without even knowing that you are playing a game! You would not know that the objective is to win and what constitutes winning.
Most people take the Game of Business WAY TOO SERIOUSLY! Give me a break -since when is creating money and serving people serious? It's FUN!
Every game has rules and a scorecard. You know you are winning by looking at the scorecard. Without an awareness of the score you would not know where you are and how far you have to go! You wouldn't know how to win.
If you don't have a scorecard for your business then stop right now and invent one. It only takes a few minutes.
I have one client who is reinventing his entire industry because of his passion for playing the game of business to win. And when he wins he will just move the goal post (the scorecard) to make it more challenging for himself. If the game is too easy it won't capture your interest or fully engage you -so make sure you invent a scorecard that will challenge you!
