Innovation Through Experimentation

Today is Pac Man's 30th anniversary (boy do I feel old!) and Google has done an amazing thing. If you haven't already seen it go to www.google.com and take a look!

This is the kind of thing that keeps companies in the forefront of people's minds. This kind of buzz and living life on purpose creates more buzz and attracts people to your cause. I'm guessing that millions of people today will go to Google.com and click on their header.

Experiment. Get out of your box. Try something and fail at it. Learn. Experiment again. Stop trying to get it right!

I was watching an interview yesterday between Oprah and Simon Cowell where they were talking about Simon's new show "The X-Factor" and how he "genuinely has no idea whether or not it will work." He's taking a risk. He doesn't know if the public will like or hate his new show but he's going to do it anyways. He didn't even do any research on whether or not people will like the show! No focus groups -he's just going from his gut. And as he puts it "I'm putting everything into this show that I would want to see in a show. Absolutely everything."

Simon lost everything at 30 years old and had to move in with his parents because the only money had was a $500,000.00 debt to pay and no income.

He paid it off in 4 years and now makes over a billion dollars off his current record label and TV shows.

It's innovation my friend! Get out and innovate!
