An ontological way to view a calendar is "I am my calendar." Not "I have a calendar" or "I use a calendar."
If we are our calendar than we live with it and there is no separation between us and it. It is who we are. I can look at my calendar and this is an act of looking at me. I can see me (or my life) right there in front of me.
With this in mind when we sit down once a week and plan our life we open up to the possibility of creation. We can create our life right there in living colour!
Rather than just sit idly by and let life happen we can create it on purpose. It becomes a wonderful creative act to plan our our week.
Here are some rules I stick to when I use this paradigm...
1. NEVER not look at your calendar when agreeing to make ANY commitment.
2. Leave at least 3 hours of empty space per day but NO spaces for the next day.
3. When planning your week select your 3 biggest priorities and schedule them first (yes, only stick to 3!)
4. Always schedule a time to plan your week and include in this time at least 30 minutes of review of your last week before you plan the upcoming week.
There are other practices that work but these 4 are critical.
Have fun!
