Authenticity Is The Key...

Do you KNOW if your people respect you? Your clients? Your suppliers? Not your company –because your company is just a “thing” but I’m talking about YOU. Most of us are too scared to reveal who we really are because of the pain associated with being misunderstood, rejected, or hurt. So we “cover up” our real person with a made up person that WE think works.

The problem with this scenario is that the truth is, is that the ONLY person that will ever work for us is who we are BEING right now. Our authentic selves. Once you are able to set aside this made up self and have enough courage to BE your real self –then and ONLY then will you experience amazing results in your life. Will everyone instantly like you? Absolutely not. But that has more to do what THEM than it as to do with you. Don’t take what people say personally. What people say NEVER has anything to do with you –even when they say it does. The truth is that we all speak, think, and act out of our own perception and our own world and when you say something that gets me mad or touches, moves, and inspires me –it is ONLY because I already have something in place that was triggered by something you said. I am different and unique, and so are you. We are not the same and never will be. I have certain likes and dislikes and so do you and sometimes I meet people that I may not necessarily like and the same for you.

The more you give up having people like you the more people will like you.

Live in THAT statement for awhile! :-)

  1. This is the key to my success. Nobody cares about the facade. No one cares about who I pretend to be, yet I used to put so much power on what i thought they might think of me if they knew who I really was. What I know is that they deserve to know exactly who I am. The only way I can get others to be real with me, is for me to be real with them. By opening myself up, I allow them to open up and to create the change they are capable of. This is a great post. Thank you!
