Self Awareness & Living Fully

Some of my clients seem to be caught in a kind of "nothingness" of life. Like they're in some kind of hypnotic state. Going through the motions and not even paying attention to what's going on around them. It's creepy.

It reminds me of that movie "They Live" by John Carpenter where a bunch of aliens from space are broadcasting a signal to the humans that clouds their minds from reality. One guy finds these glasses that -when he puts them on- shows him the real truth. Instead of a billboard of a swimsuit add there's just a plain text that says "PROCREATE" on it. Take the glasses off and you see a swimsuit ad. Put them on and you see "PROCREATE" with a plain white background.

Humans are reduced to nothing but slaves serving the aliens. You even get to see what the aliens really look like with those glasses on. Take them off and they look just like any other human.

Self awareness is like putting on the glasses. It reveals reality. What's really going on. The unpleasant thing about reality is that it is uncomfortable. Why you would want to go there to work through being uncomfortable is because of the payoff of living fully and having the life or business you really want.

We say we really want to go to Africa and help out on an orphanage but never do. Or write that book and never do that. Imagine living the kind of life you really wanted to! It takes courage to begin to look at your own life and start to tell the truth.

I could write for hours about friends and colleagues who went for it. Some bombed and some succeeded in finding and living the life of their dreams but one thing they all have in common is no regrets. Even the ones who bombed and failed loved the experience. I thought this was weird until I started to really go for it. I must say that it is really worth it!

One of the best books on this subject is "The War Of Art" by Steven Pressfield. It deals with resistance. If you want to start living fully today buy this sucker!
