Use Negative Criticism

An acquaintance of mine Sam Beckford told me a story about how he wanted to expand his Dance and Music Studio business by purchasing a larger building. The owner of that building -when he heard what kind of business Sam had -said "Oh man, those businesses can't make that kind of money."

A few years later Sam found himself purchasing the building next door. At that time I think it was his second building he purchased outright. He saw the same building owner.

Owner: "Did you purchase that building outright?"

Sam: "Yup."

Owner: "Did you get out of the Dance and Music Studio business?"

Sam: "Nope. Still doing it. Last year we made $2.5 Million and now with this second location we should double that. You were right -Dance and Music Studios can't make the kind of money you were talking about -they actually make much much more! Thanks for that advice!"

Owner walks away. No words to say.

Sam used his criticism to motivate him to even do better. He pictured himself saying that to the owner as soon as he said it.

Use people's harsh criticism against them and focus on doing what they say you can't do. That is way more fun than playing victim!
