Jesus was the ultimate revolutionary when he declared "where your treasure is -there is your heart also." He was about heart attitude.
We can do all of the actions on the outside of our life. Like being there for our family, buying flowers for our significant others, or even volunteering at the local shelter.
These are all good things and by anyone's standards are worthy of our time and effort.
But Jesus was more concerned about the heart attitude of someone while doing these things. It is WHO YOU ARE BEING not what you are doing that matters most.
There is a difference between allocating funds for a charity as a corporate social responsibility strategy and actually doing that because you WANT TO make a difference!
Companies that do really well come from the right heart attitude. They make choices because it is the right thing to do and not because of increasing shareholder value. This always increases shareholder value because the reason they invested in you was because of how you operated in the first place! :-)
I remember reading "Pour Your Heart Into It" by: Howard Schultz -the brains behind Starbucks where overnight the cost of their coffee beans doubled and instead of passing the cost on to the customer Howard responded by keeping their prices where they were. It was in honouring his customers. What ended up happening as a result of this decision was entirely new policies and procedures with regards to the companies cost management systems.
THAT is how having the right heart attitude in business makes things work!
