Transformation Is Powerful!

The other day my oldest daughter Ashley and I were sitting in the living room when downstairs came a loud yell. The tenant in our basement suite was yelling at her kid at the top of her lungs.

I looked at Ashley and said, "Wow, is that every loud! Those poor kids!"

Ashley said, "Ya, I remember when you used to do that."

I was shocked.

It had been about three years since I created myself as "loving and conscious" as a possibility. Ashley was right when she said I used to do that and indeed I did. Many times I would yell and fully vent on my kids only to have them harden their hearts and most times the girls would just cry and cry. It was horrible because not only were they miserable but I was as well.

I was shocked because I had noticed my own transformation. It was very cool. The person I've always wanted to be I had become. I still have a long way to go but I had really come a very long way. And to be acknowledged by my daughter was wonderful!

Transformation is like that. We say we are committed to something and most of the time all we are present to is how much we suck at it. We keep at it though and work it out and eventually it works. If we are committed of course.

In business if you don't stop and reflect on how far you've come as an organization you can get disillusioned. On the other hand when you look at what's working you become empowered!

You made some commitments as a company. To your customers, your suppliers, and your employees. At first it took something just to not screw up and as time went on you started to transform, walk in your word, and really make a difference in the market. Stop and take some time to acknowledge that! It is just as important as innovation because it builds high professional self-esteem, empowers your people, and creates a powerful space for creativity and innovation.
